The Politics Department at UCSC boasts a vibrant community of faculty, staff, and graduate students who are committed to scholarly excellence and social impact. Our people make us what we are, and we’re proud of their amazing work.
Our staff have won awards for the creative ways they work to build community within our department. Our graduate students provide crucial teaching support and conduct innovative research that pushes the boundaries of what counts as “political.” Our faculty members have won multiple teaching awards and prestigious fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and others. Faculty also regularly share their research through top academic journals and conferences and participate in globally important policy efforts, like organizing for the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
